ZAGREB, Jan 22 (Hina) - Croatian companies are participating very
modestly in UN procurement activities, providing a mere USD 110,000 worth of
goods and services in 2006, a seminar on how to do business with the United
Nations, organised by the Croatian Chamber of the Economy, heard on Monday. Reasons for the small share of Croatian companies lie in a strong
competition of 192 UN member states and in the fact that the Croatian economy
does not have or produce goods and services required by the world organisation,
Miroslav Karamarkovic of the Croatian Chamber of the Economy's International
Relations Department said.
The head of the UN Field Procurement Section, Dmitry Dovgopoly, said
that the total value of UN procurement would exceed USD 8 billion in 2007.
