"We should make a deal that will not be financially unbearable for Montenegro and that will provide moral and financial satisfaction to the Dubrovnik area," the Chairman of the Montenegrin Assembly, Ranko Krivokapic, told Zagreb daily Vjesnik in an interview published on Thursday.
He said that Montenegro was not the one that had made political decisions "in that dirty war" but "was used in various ways".
"During Prime Minister Sanader's visit we talked about the healing of the very painful wounds not only for Croatia but also for Montenegro because it is held morally responsible," Krivokapic said.
Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader visited Montenegro in the first half of January as the first head of government to visit the country since it became independent. He said then that the past could not be forgotten, and that after Montenegro had distanced itself from and apologised for the shelling of Dubrovnik and aggression against Croatia conditions had been created for the establishment of good relations.
