According to a brief statement from the Serbian president's office, Tadic reiterated that the independence of Kosovo was unacceptable to Serbia, while Wisner said that the United States regarded the proposed plan for Kosovo, unveiled last week by UN envoy Martti Ahtisaari, as a good one.
Tadic and Wisner also discussed the possibility of coordinating a date for the continuation of talks on the future status of Kosovo with the formation of democratic institutions in Serbia after recent elections.
Tadic told Wisner that Serbia was "firmly committed to a continuation of negotiations and stability and peace in the region," the statement said.
