During the 26 months of the first stage, border crossings at Pleso at Zagreb airport and at Bajakovo, on the border with Serbia, were integrated in the system.
The results of the first stage of the EUR 2.5-million project are excellent, said participants in today's presentation in Zagreb.
During the second stage, another seven border crossings will be included in the system, which is already in place in Europe, and the third stage will cover 25 border crossings, Interior Minister Ivica Kirin said, adding that the National Information System for State Border Management would cover 70 percent of all border crossings in the country.
The project is being implemented within the CARDS programme and in cooperation with the French Interior Ministry.
CARDS is the European Union's Community Assistance for Reconstruction, Development and Stabilisation programme.
