The seminar, organised by the Croatian Ministry of Science and Education in cooperation with the Council of Europe, the Croatian Education Agency and the Jasenovac Memorial Centre, was held on the occasion of 27 January, Holocaust Victims Remembrance Day. In 2003, Croatia joined the countries that commemorate that day.
Participants in the seminar, including experts and historians from the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam, Yad Vashem, the Spielberg Foundation Shoah, the Memorial Holocaust Museum in New York, the Croatian Jasenovac Memorial Centre and others, concluded that as a member of a task force for international cooperation in teaching and research about the Holocaust, Croatia has made a considerable contribution to teaching about the Holocaust.
Apart from Croatia, Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine are members of that task force.
The organisers of the event have recalled that so far 107 Croatians have been granted the title of Righteous Among the Nations, as non-Jews who risked their lives to save Jews during the Second World War.
