The purpose of the project, which covers 11 Southeast European countries, is to show on the basis of original documents from different countries in the region how the same historical events were viewed from different cultural and national perspectives.
The books, prepared by 60 historians from the region, deal with the Ottoman Empire, the Nations and States in Southeast Europe, the Balkan Wars, and the Second World War.
English, Greek and Serbian language editions have been published so far, while Croatian, Macedonian, Albanian and Bosnian editions are under preparation.
The books are primarily intended for history teachers as a source of examples and original documents, but may also serve to interested students as history readers.
