"A large turnout was recorded in places where the Croat minority lives. A convincing majority of them voted for the DS," said the DSHV leader, who represented the Croat minority on the DS list.
If the DSHV wins a seat, Kuntic will be the first representative of the Croat minority in the Serbian parliament since 1992.
The Serbian Radical Party (SRS) won most of the votes in the province, 30.9 per cent. It was followed by the DS with 24.1 per cent, the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) with nearly 9.9 per cent, and the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP)-led coalition with 7.8 per cent.
The League of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) also won seats in the national parliament. It said that it would represent the interests of the Hungarian minority and other ethnic minorities.
