Foreign ministry confirms man killed in Iraq was Croatian citizen

ZAGREB, Jan 18 (Hina) - Croatian citizen Zeljko Both was killed in Bagdad on Wednesday, the office of the spokesman for the Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry confirmed on Thursday.
ZAGREB, Jan 18 (Hina) - Croatian citizen Zeljko Both was killed in Bagdad on Wednesday, the office of the spokesman for the Croatian Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry confirmed on Thursday.

Both worked as a security specialist for the Unity Resources Group, a security and bodyguard firm. He was killed in an ambush attack on a convoy of three vehicles owned by the US organisation National Democratic Institute in west Bagdad.

Both was hit while trying to protect the vehicle transporting a protected person who was also killed in the attack. Another two security guards were also killed in the attack and two were injured. Both's body is in the military hospital in the Green Zone waiting to be transported to Croatia.

The Croatian Defence Ministry also confirmed on Thursday morning that Croatian officer Zeljko Both, who left the Croatian Armed Forces at his own request in 2003, was killed in Iraq.
