WASHINGTON, Jan 17 (Hina) - The defence of Croatian general Ante Gotovina said on Wednesday it would be ready for the trial set to begin before the Hague war crimes tribunal on May 7 and that it would not request a postponement to
have more time to prepare for trial.

the Hague war crimes tribunal on May 7 and that it would not request a
postponement to have more time to prepare for trial. Attorney Luka
Misetic told Hina in a telephone interview the tribunal's decision on the start
of the trial was expected.
He estimated the trial to last 14-17 months.
The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia said
today the joint trial of Croatian Army generals Gotovina, Ivan Cermak and
Mladen Markac would open on May 7.
