"It is clear that Serbia has again taken a step backwards because of Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica," Biserko said, adding that Serbia was still not ready to turn to the future and carry the heavy burden of the recent war and crimes committed in that war.
"It is completely clear now that Zoran Djindjic had to pay with his life his readiness to cooperate with the Hague tribunal and extradite Slobodan Milosevic," Biserko said, adding that Djindjic was the only politician with a clear European vision.
Biserko believes that Kostunica does not want to extradite Bosnian Serb military commander Ratko Mladic, even at the cost of discontinuing talks with the European Union.
Prominent Serbian historian Latinka Perovic said at the presentation that it was thanks to Djindjic that Serbian society had not transformed into a mob lacking any values and that today a battle was being fought in Serbia for values.
She noted that Germans were continually preoccupied with Nazism, wondering how much time Serbia would need to start facing the horrible crimes committed in its name.
