Seks told reporters after today's session of the parliamentary presidency that the government-sponsored bill was included in the parliamentary agenda and that it would be discussed under urgent procedure, although there were indications that the government might withdraw the bill.
Seks said it was too early to request the Constitutional Court to assess if the bill was in line with the Constitution, because the Court could only assess laws that had already been adopted.
The speaker told reporters that parliament would not discuss a set of bills moved by the Opposition, proposing amendments to the election legislation, adding that parliamentary elections, scheduled for November, would be held in accordance with the existing legislation with minor technical changes.
Those minor interventions will be moved by the government, Seks said, adding that not a single major political party was interested in changing the fundamental principles of the election act.
The agenda of the 24th parliamentary session, to last until 9 February, consists of 48 items.
