After the Democrat Alliance of Croats in Vojvodina (DSHV) supported Boris Tadic's Democratic Party instead of the Hungarian minority party, the SVM stressed that unlike Belgrade-based parties, this party did not want to assimilate the Croat community.
The SVM also stressed it helped the forming of the Croat National Council and the creation up of a radio programme in Croatian on Radio Subotica, financed by the Vojvodina budget.
DSHV president Petar Kuntic expressed his surprise on Friday with the SVM's latest move, adding that the two parties had successfully cooperated in the past.
The parliamentary elections in Serbia are scheduled for 21 January.
