HGK president Nadan Vidosevic's chief of staff Zdenka Peternel is suspected of taking part in the withdrawal of more than HRK 32 million from the HGK. Yesterday she was placed in custody for one month.
Asked if Vidosevic should resign, Enterprise Minister Gordan Maras said yesterday, "I would no longer be minister in a situation like this if this proved to be true."
When there is revolt, and this situation, if true, causes revolt among people, Vidosevic's resignation is the least that can be expected, Pusic told the press today ahead of a meeting of her Croatian People's Party (HNS).
Asked about disagreements in the ruling coalition on some issues, she said the coalition was functioning well and that she hoped it would have visible results by the end of the term. She added that it was very important to agree positions on important issues.
Pusic said the HNS was willing and open for talks and that its position on the HGK was not contrary to Maras'. She added, however, that the HNS believed that the HGK should be reformed gradually, first by reducing membership fees by half, which she said would transform the HGK's functioning.
