The event was opened by Croatian Environment and Nature Protection Minister Mihael Zmajlovic, who said Croatia had the experts, know-how and tradition, with such estimates dating back to 1984.
"Croatia was an example to many countries in the region of how it's done and it can be so today too," he said, adding that the new environmental protection law envisaged the establishment of a chamber of environmental protection experts aimed at combining protection standards and investments.
"Investing in sustainable development brings long term profit to investors and the wider community, notably the environment," Zmajlovic said.
The conference is being held under the auspices of the Environment and Nature Protection Ministry.
