The talks highlighted the good relations between Croatia's state institutions and religious communities, including the Serb Orthodox Church, Josipovic's office said in a statement.
Metropolitan Hilarion thanked President Josipovic for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings from Russian Orthodox Church Patriarch Kirill.
Josipovic highlighted the contribution of the Serb Orthodox Church in Croatia, particularly of Metropolitan Jovan to the promotion of ecumenical and interreligious dialogue, as well as the contribution to reconciliation and the creation of trust between members of different confessions in Croatia after the 1991-95 Homeland War.
The president said it was also important that the leaders of all religious communities advocate the return of displaced persons and refugees to their homes on the entire territory of the former Yugoslavia.
