The Frisian Sea Sneek container ship, which will sail the northern seas, is 118.19 metres long, 13.43 metres wide and has a draught of 6.1 metres. It has 6,400 tonnes in deadweight and a 836 m3 storage area.
This was the biggest ship built at Leda, which is owned by a Dutch shipyard as of recently and has 100 employees.
Several state and local officials attended the launching.
A contract was signed yesterday for the construction of an even bigger ship.
By entering the off shore market and using modern technology, Leda will be able to build more expensive and better ships, dock officials said.
