For the past eight years, Raguz was the party's vice president. He is replacing Bozo Ljubic, who led the party for the eight years of its existence.
Raguz received the votes of 395 of the 533 delegates in attendance. His opponent, Slaven Raguz, won a little over 136 votes.
"After Croatia's accession to the European Union, we too want to say that there is no more time to waste," Raguz said, adding that it was time to stop fighting for positions in Bosnia and start with reforms.
He said he would resolutely push for solving the current political crisis in the country through cooperation and dialogue with other political parties.
