Oil shortage in Bosnia possible because of Croatian seaport

Autor: half
MOSTAR, July 6 (Hina) - Bosnia and Herzegovina could face an oil shortage or higher prices unless a solution is found to the import of oil from the southern Croatian seaport of Ploce following Croatia's accession to the European Union on July 1, Dnevni Avaz daily said on Saturday, citing official sources.

"Unless the problems with the tank trucks which have to supply petrol stations in Bosnia and were stopped in Ploce on Monday are solved in the next few days, Bosnia and Herzegovina could remain without oil products," the director of the Federation entity's Terminali, Rasim Kadic, was quoted as saying.

Terminali is the entity's umbrella company managing the Oil Terminals in Ploce which supply Bosnia with considerable quantities of oil products. The most significant supply comes from the oil refinery in Brod.

Dozens of full tank trucks, blocked in Ploce since Monday, have started entering Bosnia after problems with Croatia's customs system and with the required documentation have been reduced. However, they have not been completely eliminated.

Kadic said this was perceived poorly in Bosnia and warned that oil products' prices might go up if the difficulties remained.
