ZAGREB, April 14
(Hina) - Tonino Picula of the ruling Social
Democratic Party (SDP), who tops the SDP-HNS-HSU coalition slate for
the European Parliament, said on Sunday night he still believed the
final EP election result would be different than it was at the moment,
according to which the opposition Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) has
won more MEP seats, but added that if the final result remained the
same, the SDP should admit defeat.
Picula said the slate he led, with five MEP seats won so far, could hardly be considered a loser list, but that if the final results stayed as they were, his coalition would not reaffirm its profile.
The State Election Commission will release the results at midnight.
