ZAGREB, April 14 (Hina) - The president of the Croatian Party of Rights Dr. Ante Starcevic (HSP AS), Ruza Tomasic, has won the most votes on the HDZ-HSP AS-BUZ coalition slate for the European Parliament, although she does not top the list, while Tonino Picula has won the most votes on the SDP-HNS-HSU coalition slate, which he tops, according to the first incomplete results of the State Election Commission on Sunday.

Tomasic has won 25.95 per cent of the vote, ten per cent more than the second candidate on the slate, Andrej Plenkovic. Top of the list Dubravka Suica has won 12.5 per cent.

Social Democrat Picula has won more than 46 per cent of the vote, followed by the second candidate on the SDP-HNS-HSU slate, Biljana Borzan, and the sixth on the slate, Jozo Rados.

DIP president Branko Hrvatin said votes from 3,379 of the 6,696 polling stations had been counted by 21.45 hours and that "an extremely high percentage" would be counted by a press conference at midnight.

The election for Croatian MEPs ended in 38 countries by 10 pm. The last polling stations will be closed on the US West Coast at 4 am Croatian time.
