Deputy PM denies coalition conflict over finmin's motion

Autor: half
ZAGREB, Feb 22 (Hina) - First Deputy Prime Minister and Croatian People's Party (HNS) president Vesna Pusic said on Friday there was no conflict in the ruling coalition although the HNS, a junior partner, disagreed with Finance Minister Slavko Linic's motion to limit current account overdrafts.

"I don't know why Linic came out with something like that. This was in no way discussed at the government or with the other ministers," Pusic said when asked about the HNS' position on the motion.

"The HNS' position is that the state can't treat citizens as underage and feeble-minded. Citizens have the autonomy of decision-making and privacy, which is inviolable. And banks are business entities which estimate the risk on the market," said Pusic.

"There's no conflict between the ministers," she added.

She said the coalition partners could and should talk about anything and highlighted Linic's credit for the swifter construction of border crossings, which is a requirement for Croatia's European Union accession.
