Parliament to begin year's first session on Wednesday

Autor: half
ZAGREB, Jan 22 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Wednesday begins its first session this year, which is scheduled to last four weeks.

The agenda comprises 44 items but is expected to be augmented as early as tomorrow. Among the items are the government's bills of amendments on state officials' obligations and entitlements and on motor vehicles.

Opposition MPs from the HDSSB and the Labour Party, disgruntled with the government's regional development policy, have initiated an interpellation on the government's work on the provision of conditions for a balanced regional development through European Union funds.

Among the items on the agenda is the appointment of the Conflict of Interest Commission and of a new Human Rights Ombudsman.

Although the seventh parliament session is scheduled to last four weeks, Speaker Josip Leko has said that if necessary, the Sabor will sit without a break, five days a week.

The session will begin with Question Time as usual.
