Jakovcic says still hasn't spoken with PM

Autor: half
PULA, Jan 7 (Hina) - Istrian Democratic Party (IDS) president Ivan Jakovcic said on Sunday that he had not spoken yet with Social Democratic Party (SDP) president and Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic since the SDP supported Damir Kajin's candidacy as Istria prefect at upcoming local elections, adding that Milanovic should think hard about whom he had supported for that office.

Speaking on Croatian Television, Jakovcic said he would help the IDS candidate for Istria prefect, Valter Flego, win the election, and that he would leave government and ruling coalition matters to another party colleague.

Jakovcic said he and Milanovic would have a chance to talk after local elections. He said it was he and not Kajin who toured the entire country with Milanovic before the 2011 parliamentary election, encouraging citizens to vote for Milanovic.

"Kajin is the one saying the mob is in power in Istria, that I am that mob, yet it was I who helped Milanovic become prime minister in this country. I hope it will not be concluded that the mob brought Milanovic to power in Croatia," Jakovic said, commenting on Kajin's statement that Istria would not be like Calabria or Sicily and that it would not be run mob-style.
