Most spinners appeared unconvinced that a fundamental reversal in the previous bearish trend was taking place, and given the proximity of the year-end closure, were content to retreat to the sidelines, they added. One or two retail transactions were reported to fill outstanding gaps in mill inventories early in the New Year, but generally though, trading lacked any significant new impetus. 221106 MET dec 97
