Merino fleece of 19/25/26 microns was up to 0.5 percent dearer, with 20/21/22m slightly dearer and 23/24m unchanged, while merino skirtings were fully firm. In crossbreds, 27/28m were 0.5 percent dearer, 29/30m unchanged, and 31m 0.5 percent cheaper. In cardings, lambs and crutchings were unchanged, with locks generally unchanged. WI said Western Europe and Japanese interests were principal buyers with good support from most sectors of the trade. Of the 29,817 bales offered, 18.1 percent were passed in. Sales continue next week in Sydney, Adelaide and Fremantle with about 100,150 bales to be offered. _________________________________________________________________ Bradford - cijene vune - 07. kolovoza 1997. cijene u penijima/kg _________________________________________________________________ MERINO CROSSBRED 70s SUPER 525 58s SUPER 372 66s SUPER 475 58s BLENDED 350 64s SUPER 415 56s SUPER 350 64s BLENDED 409 54s CARDED 329 60s SUPER 384 50s CARDED 323 60s BLENDED 371 58s ENGLISH 262 56s ENGLISH 253 50s ENGLISH 249 Bradford wool market again quiet due holidays BRADFORD, Aug 7 (Reuter) - Some talk was heard of business being placed in the Far East but leading European markets were again quiet because of holidays. Most interest was on Australia where the market confirmed signs of softness seen last week. The EMI ended 22 cents down on the week at 696 and noone was sure whether a recovery of one cent on Thursday marked the end of the shake out or a pause. Prices to reflect the wool market have to be lower but sterling volatility involved erratic softness against the Australian dollar. Those importing tops were best placed because of the currency advantage. But a new UK interest rate rise did not trigger any further sterling appreciation. 081112 MET aug 97
