Traders said the copper market staged an expected bounce from the outset, capitalising on a constructive technical close overnight, which provided the impetus to chase up to $2,550. Other factors were a widening backwardation and a re-focusing on the OK Tedi concentrate shipment difficulties, although there were no concrete developments. But given the Inco Sudbury strike, and possible lost copper output at Russia's Norilsk due to curtailed gas supplies, the market is sensitive to any disruptive factors. "It has been a good performance -- stocks fell again (down 600 tonnes), the spread has gone out by $40 this week, although there is not that much physical business around," one said. Cash/threes widened to a $100/105 backwardation, having been around $63 at the start of the week, with rates tightening from July onwards. With the market perceived to be short and copper continuing to flow out of warehouses, a clear break above $2,550 should drive prices much higher in the short-term, traders said. Last kerb business was at $2,553 a tonne, a $39 gain from Tuesday's kerb close. Other metals were underpinned by copper, but advances were not particularly significant, even though inventories were down in all cases, bar tin. Aluminium continued to make steady upside progress, which traders said was indicative of a solid technical picture. Inventories fell by a punchy 4,350 tonnes and the contango continued to shrink. There was some resistance above $1,620, but with copper looking strong there is the possibility of prices being able to reach $1,640/50. Last kerb trade was at $1,626, up $9 from Tuesday. The cash/threes contango was at $17/19, having been at $24 at the start of the week. Covering against the June date might see the spread into $15 soon, they said. Nickel was higher, but somewhat rangebound, and may be trapped between $7,300 and $7,400 in the immediate short-term. Inco's strike continues to hold the market's attention. Last trade was at $7,350, up $60. Zinc resumed its uptrend, but is still a little adrift of last week's 4-1/2 year highs. By the end of the morning prices were $8 higher at $1,371. Tin followed the trend and gained $60 to $5,650. Lead was steady at $639.50/640, as was alloy at $1,480/85. _________________________________________________________________ STANJE LME ZALIHA NA DAN - 11.06.1997. - po pojedinim skladištima _________________________________________________________________ ++ COPPER WIRE BARS + ANTWERP 50 HAMBURG 25 ++ COPPER CATHODES + ANTWERP 525 DUNKIRK 50 HAMBURG 5275 ROTTERDAM 5700 LEGHORN 600 TRIESTE 10650 BARCELONA 225 BILBAO 11625 GOTHENBURG 15125 HELSINBORG 6575 LONG BEACH 47500 LOS ANGELE 4350 ST LOUIS 100 SINGAPORE 19150 ++ TIN ++ ANTWERP 10 HAMBURG 125 ROTTERDAM 6345 GENOA 300 TRIESTE 15 BILBAO 40 HULL 280 LIVERPOOL 4720 BALTIMORE 310 CHICAGO 20 LONG BEACH 5 LOS ANGELE 35 NEW HAVEN 50 ++ LEAD + ANTWERP 100 HAMBURG 550 ROTTERDAM 1900 GENOA 7425 GOTHENBURG 10675 HELSINBORG 80550 GOOLE 525 HULL 875 LIVERPOOL 1350 SUNDERLAND 100 DETROIT 750 LONG BEACH 3675 SINGAPORE 8475 ++ ZINC + ANTWERP 26075 DUNKIRK 150 BREMEN 800 HAMBURG 450 ROTTERDAM 115125 PIRAEUS 275 GENOA 17100 TRIESTE 117925 BARCELONA 13075 BILBAO 13175 GOTHENBURG 10375 HELSINBORG 60050 LIVERPOOL 13200 CHICAGO 200 ST LOUIS 12475 SINGAPORE 19850 ++ NICKEL ++ ANTWERP 1608 ROTTERDAM 37242 GENOA 270 TRIESTE 54 GOTHENBURG 11148 LIVERPOOL 72 NEW HAVEN 120 TOLEDO 6 SINGAPORE 1236 ++ ALUMINI M ++ ANTWERP 600 ROTTERDAM 28275 TRIESTE 375 BILBAO 300 GOTHENBURG 41750 HELSINBORG 128025 AVONMOUTH 27600 HULL 126400 LIVERPOOL 204625 NEWCASTLE 99850 SUNDERLAND 45600 DETROIT 150 ++ ALUMINIUM ALLOY ++ ANTWERP 5320 DUNKIRK 640 DUISBERG 520 HAMBURG 180 ROTTERDAM 1380 BRESCIA 1260 GENOA 5380 TRIESTE 3500 BARCELONA 80 BILBAO 1580 GOTHENBURG 220 DERBY 80 HULL 680 LIVERPOOL 24300 CHICAGO 3680 DETROIT 1120 LONG BEACH 9260 ST LOUIS 2320 SINGAPORE 60 _________________________________________________________________ STANJE LME ZALIHA NA DAN 11. lipnja 1997. količine su u tonama _________________________________________________________________ COPPER 127525 DOWN 600 TIN 12255 UP 90 LEAD 116950 DOWN 600 ZINC 420300 DOWN 350 ALUMINIUM 713725 DOWN 4350 NICKEL 51756 DOWN 108 AL.ALLOY 61560 DOWN 340 STOCK IN OUT COPPER wire bars 75 0 0 COPPER cathodes 127450 0 600 TIN 12255 110 20 LEAD 116950 0 600 ZINC 420300 0 350 NICKEL briquettes 7638 0 24 NICKEL cathodes 44082 390 474 NICKEL pellets 36 0 0 STOCK IN OUT ALUMINIUM ingots 317950 0 2000 ALUMINIUM T-bars 238900 0 2275 ALUMINIUM sows 156875 0 75 AL.ALLOY D12S/JIS 400 0 0 AL.ALLOY 226/DIN 34160 0 240 AL.ALLOY A380.1 27000 20 120 LME - warehouse stock movements LONDON, Jun 11 - Latest LME warehouse stock changes are: copper down 600, tin up 90, lead down 600, zinc down 350, aluminium down 4350, nickel down 108, aluminium alloy down 340 FRANCUSKA BURZA - 10. lipnja 1997. - burza nije radila BAKAR FFR/100 KG 1563 KOSITAR FFR/100 KG 3830 CINK EL.
