Malaysian private forecaster Ivan Wong in his latest report projected local output during May at 784,000 tonnes, up seven percent from April. Wong estimated stocks at 745,000 tonnes against 697,714 tonnes at end-April, while exports were projected at 635,000 tonnes against 570,067 during April. Higher Chicago futures overnight failed to stem the fall in palm oil prices. "The Wong report combined with the low prices at Egypt's tender this week are not good for the market," said one trader. Soft oils held there early gains but traders said with so few buyers about sellers were not really challenged. Crude palm oil cif Europe closed $2.50 to $7.50 a tonne lower after Jul/Sep traded at $535 a tonne cif. Traders said there were other trade mentioned, but none could be confirmed. Among products RBD oil was $5 to $2.50 down and olein $5 lower. Coconut oil closed $2.50 down to unchanged after Sep/Oct traded at $625 a tonne cif. Palmkernel oil was $10 to $7.50 down after Jun/Jul fetched $625 a tonne cif. In the soft oil sector soy oil closed 2.50 to 1.50 guilders up while rape oil was 1.50 to one guilder up after Aug/Oct traded at 105 guilders a 100 kilos fob ex-mill.
