Wreaths were laid and candles lit at a memorial monument and mass was celebrated for all civilians and defenders killed in the 1991-95 war.
Since nobody has been held accountable for the Josevica atrocity, the War Conflicts Research and Documentation Agency said in a statement it wanted to draw public attention not only to the fact that the crime remained unpunished. but also to the fact that judicial institutions had all the necessary information on the perpetrators.
The Agency said the Sisak County Prosecutor's Office on 21 October 2010 indicted Dusan Zarkovic, Mirko Jednak, Bogdan Jednak, Georg Nashid Kamal, Miroslav Malobabic and Dejan Sladovic for killing 21 Josevica residents. Before that, Serb paramilitaries killed another three Croats in Josevica as well as another six after the atrocity.
The Agency said some of the perpetrators had Croatian documents and urged the Croatian judiciary to do what was necessary to arrest them and bring them to justice.
