High Representative Valentin Inzko on Monday with representatives of several political parties, setting out details of a process that OHR will facilitate in order to ensure implementation of the Constitutional Court's decisions related to Mostar's electoral process and to enable the citizens of the southern Bosnian city to participate in elections as soon as possible.
"The goal of our efforts is to help facilitate a domestic solution," Iznko said, emphasizing that the Peace Implementation Council Steering Board fully supported the OHR's role in helping to try to bring about such a solution.
Inzko and his Principal Deputy Roderick Moore announced a phased approach to finding a compromise solution. The first phase would begin immediately and would involve the OHR working initially with the Mostar Expert Group, elected to implement the Constitutional Court's decisions.
The OHR became engaged in the implementation of the decisions after the political parties in Mostar were unable to agree on the matter.
