PM says government trying to save jobs at Dina

Autor: half
GARESNICA, Aug 21 (Hina) - Asked by the press to comment on the case of the Dina petrochemical company, Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said on Tuesday the state was not the owner of Dina but was working for the common good and doing everything so that production could resume and jobs be saved.

Dina "is a private company whose owners and managers worked poorly. We are talking about solid and relatively promising production. We are doing everything to retain what is not state property in order to save production and jobs... That's our mission, our task. The state is working for the common good here," Milanovic said in Garesnica.

Reporters also asked him to comment on what they called Transport Minister Sinisa Hajdas Doncic's "corruption scandal," namely his choice of Krunoslav Sams, an executive at his ministry, for the deputy director in charge of concessions at Zagreb Airport before applications for the job were invited.

"That's not insignificant. Our reputation is at stake, so I'll say that it can't be about the meal ticket of a man who has held a high position for 10 years... His knowledge was of use to the Croatian state during negotiations on one of the biggest concession contracts. I don't know why applications were invited because he has only been transferred," Milanovic said, adding that "an attempt was made to create an ill-intentioned media corruption story out if this that has nothing to do with the truth."
