The documentary called "Nedjo of Ljubuski", whose author is Svetlana Broz, a granddaughter of the Yugoslav Communist leader, Marshal Josip Broz Tito, triggered off negative reactions and condemnations of associations of local Croat war veterans who did not want the documentary to be screened in Ljubuski. Nevertheless, the premiere was organised in that town in mid-July and on that occasion Stefica Galic was physically assaulted in an incident.
The U.S. administration is concerned by threats sent to Mrs. Stefica Galic and others, as a result of the screening of the film about her late husband's and her activities during the war, an official from the U.S. embassy in Sarajevo told the media in Mostar on Friday.
The U.S. embassy also issued a statement on its web site reading that "the United States wishes to express its deep concern about another violent attack on a journalist in the OSCE region, this time against Stefica Galic, the editor-in-chief of web portal tacno.net, in southern Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 18."
" We call upon authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina to investigate the incident thoroughly, prosecute those responsible, and provide whatever protection may be necessary for those involved in the film," reads the statement.
The EU officials joined in the condemnation of the incident, and said they expected the authorities to prosecute the perpetrators.
