ZAGREB, June 29
(Hina) - Branko Balunovic, one of the commanders of
units within the Croatian anti-terrorist group "ATP Lucko" that
carried out a clean-up of liberated areas after Operation Storm in
August 1995, told the Zagreb County Court on Friday that high-ranking
commander Zeljko Sacic asked the commanders on the ground to write in
their reports that civilians killed in the village of Grubori near
Knin were collateral victims of the fighting with Serb terrorists.
Balunovic, who testified at the trial of his former comrades Frano Drljo and Bozo Krajina, accused of the murder of six elderly people in Grubori, said he was at the helm of one of the four groups that combed the Grubori area before the passage of the Freedom Train, carrying top state officials from Zagreb to Split.
He also said that he had not been an eye-witness and that his knowledge of the events was based on what his comrades had told him.
