Thirty-one of the 40 deputies in attendance voted for the budget, eight were against and one abstained.
Five of the six parties making up the ruling coalition and the opposition Alliance for a Better Future voted for the budget.
Deputies of the ruling coalition's Party of Democratic Action voted against, claiming the budget amount was not enough for the state to function efficiently.
Under the proposal of the Council of Ministers, this year's budget will amount to 950 million convertible marks (about EUR 475 million).
During the discussion, Finance Minister Nikola Spiric defended the budget, saying it was based on realistic revenue sources and that it would not endanger any vital function of the state, while providing for the holding of a population census and municipal elections in October as well as the construction of border crossings with Croatia for cargo transport.
In order for the budget to go into force, it has to be upheld by the House of Peoples, which is expected to do so next week.
