"We don't want to get into other parties' internal matters and are waiting for the DS, as the biggest party (in a possible new ruling coalition), to nominate the prime minister designate," Dacic told Blic, adding that the talks with the DS would continue but that there was no agreement on a new government yet.
An SPS-led coalition became the third political force at a May 6 parliamentary election. Dacic and Tadic's DS informally agreed the joint formation of the new government, although Nikolic's SNS won the most seats in the parliamentary election, 73 out of 250. A DS-led coalition follows with 67 seats and the SPS-led coalition with 44.
Following Nikolic's victory at a presidential election last Sunday, it is highly possible that the new government will be led by his SNS and Dacic's SPS.
Blic unofficially reported today that Tadic will very soon decide whether to accept the proposal by the other leaders of his party to be the new PM in a coalition government with the SPS. Initially, he rejected this proposal.
Danas reported that it is more and more certain that the SNS will not miss the opportunity to gain a parliamentary majority and form the new government, and that it will begin official talks with potential coalition partners as soon as Nikolic formally steps into office.
Citing an unnamed source close to the top of the SPS-led coalition, Nikolic and Dacic held talks on Monday. It added that the coalition might scrap its informal agreement with the DS because it envisaged Tadic's victory in the presidential election.
