"That's a desperate move by a loser, after Mrs Kosor and her election team have realised that their election engineering won't work. People will obviously vote according to their conscience, which is obviously not to the liking of Mrs Kosor," Milinovic told Hina when asked for a comment on Kosor's announcement today.
"We adopted the rules of the game unanimously, and it is undemocratic to change election rules during an election process. That's yet another undemocratic move by Mrs Kosor. She could have done it in the last two years and at the previous party convention," he said.
"This is yet another attempt at destabilising the HDZ, and it is obviously in the interest of Mrs Kosor and some other circles that the HDZ should not start functioning as the strongest opposition party and a counterbalance to the failed policies of the ruling coalition," Milinovic said.
He said he supported the one-member-one-vote idea, but stressed that "it must be preceded by a review of the membership so we would know who is entitled to vote, and the last membership review was carried out in 2002."
