GORAZDA CIVILIAN SITUATION GRIM, UNHCR SAYS

SARAJEVO, Nov 5, (Hina) - After 30 months of war, Bosnia- Herzegovina civilians are still suffering as much as ever. UNHCR spokesman in Sarajevo Peter Kessler says the forthcoming winter for some 5000 Gorazda residents will be a lot tougher than the two winters passed. The people in this east Bosnian enclave are facing winter under impossible living conditions in destroyed houses and damaged flats. The grim situation is being exacerbated by Serb authorities in Pale who are refusing to allow the transportation of any kind of winter clothing or materials to repair homes. The UNHCR has succeeded only in getting food to east Bosnia and in limited quantities at that, Kessler said. In the meantime Serbs have continued with ethnic cleansing campaigns in areas under their control. Croats and Moslems were continuing to be forced out of Banja Luka, he said. "Every week at least 100 people flee from this part of Bosnia," Kessler said. An ethnic cleansing campaign in Bijeljina was almost completed.
