U.N. PEACE-KEEPERS FIND TWENTY DEAD BOSNIAN SERBS NEAR SARAJEVO

SARAJEVO, Oct 6 (Hina) - French UN peace-keepers found 20 dead bodies of 16 Serb soldiers and four nurses in the village of Rakitnica on Mount Igman close to the demilitarized zone around Sarajevo, between 6 and 8 a.m. today. At his request, the UN secretary-general's special envoy Yasushi Akashi met Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic for talks on the situation in Sarajevo after this incident. Akashi told reporters after the meeting there was no evidence yet that Moslem-led Bosnian government army troops were involved in the incident. However, UNPROFOR believed the Bosnian army forces could be linked to the incident as they had been sighted in the Rakitnica area in the past few days by UN observers. A UN official told Hina's Sarajevo correspondent that Rakitnica was the regional headquarters of all Serb forces in the area. Among the dead troops were also believed to be Serb officers and possibly the comander of Serb forces for the Igman and Bjelasnica areas. The UN official could not confirm the name of the Serb commander but said he could be either a colonel or a general in rank. Lt. Gen. Michael Rose, the commander of the UN peace-keeping force in Bosnia-Herzegovina, is travelling to the Serb stronghold of Pale to discuss the present situation in Sarajevo with Serb deputy military commander Manojlo Milovanovic.
