ZAGREB, Oct 14, (Hina) Yesterday's 'strike for the right to strike'
affected 76 per cent of secondary schools, 65 per cent of primary
schools and 60 per cent of kindergartens in Croatia, three teacher
union representatives claimed today.
The strike was over teachers' wages being docked for the days
they were on strike in September.
A press conference today was told that the Ministry of
Education paid full wages for the month of September to those
schools which submitted a program on how to catch up on the
curriculum covering the September strike days.
Teacher Unions called on the Croatian parliament to consider
the text of a 'disputable decision' on September 27 by the
Government under which teachers were financially disadvantaged.
The Ministry of Education said today that according to their
data yesterday's strike fully affected only 2.4 per cent of primary
schools and 18.3 secondary schools.
