SARAJEVO, Oct 4 (Hina) - Heavy fighting was reported between the
Bosnian government army and Serb forces in the Mount Cemerno area,
50 km north of Sarajevo, a press conference at the UN headquarters
in Sarajevo said today.
UN military observers counted more than 2,200 artillery, tank
and mortar impacts. They believed the Serb forces launched a major
offensive in a bid to regain control of positions they had lost to
Moslem-led Bosnian government troops in August.
UN military observers also reported continued fighting in
western Bosnia.
UNPROFOR spokesman Tim Spicer said that Bosnian army forces
fired four mortar rounds on Vojkovici, a Serb village southeast of
Sarajevo, inside the weapons exclusion zone.
Spicer said Moslem troops yesterday deliberately opened fire
on a UN bulldozer in Sarajevo's Dobrinja district. The bulldozer
took several bullets fired from a heavy machine-gun and a French UN
armoured vehicle returned fire.
