SARAJEVO, Sep 15 (Hina) - The US special peace envoy for Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Charles Thomas and a group of US generals, today told
Bosnian President, Alija Izetbegovic, about the Contact Group's
plans for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Thomas told Izetbegovic about the deployment of international
observers at the border between Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina,
according to a statement issued after the meeting.
The US representatives told Izetbegovic about Russian
representatives' proposals regarding the easing of sanctions on
Belgrade.
Izetbegovic said that the Bosnian party could only accept the
easing of sanctions if Serbia and Montenegro recognized an
independent Bosnia-Herzegovina and if the borders between the
countries were effectively monitored.
The talks also focused on the lifting of the arms embargo from
Bosnia-Herzegovina, and the situation in Sarajevo.
It was agreed that close co-ordination of activities between
the Bosnian Government and the US administration would continue.
