SARAJEVO, Aug 8 (Hina) - UNPROFOR has received no orders to
withdraw from Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Commander of UN troops in
Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lt. Gen. Sir Michael Rose told a news
conference on Monday.
"UN peace-keepers will stay in Bosnia-Herzegovina as long as
they are able to help establish peace," he said.
Gen. Rose told reporters he was hoping to meet Serb Commander
Ratko Mladic in a bid to lift the blockade of Sarajevo.
He also said that the head of the UNPROFOR Civil Affairs
Department, Sergio de Mello, today relayed renegade Moslem leader
Abdic's response to President Izetbegovic's offer to talk.
De Mello today met with Vice-President of the Bosnian
Federation, Ejup Ganic. After the meeting, reporters were told that
the Bosnian and Serbian sides would resume talks on the release of
POW's, the opening of blue routes and ending sniping on Wednesday.
