SARAJEVO, Aug 4 (Hina) - A spokesman for the U.N. Protection Force
(UNPROFOR) in Sarajevo, Major Rob Annink, said today that the
UNPROFOR commander in Bosnia-Herzegovina, General Michael Rose had
received no order that the U.N. staff and the blue berets should
withdraw from Bosnia within next three months. Annink said this
while commenting on an article of the Italian LA REPUBBLICA which
had underlined that UNPROFOR would leave Bosnia within three
months. The article in LA REPUBBLICA also wrote that such an order
was issued by Boutros Ghali to General Rose personally. Spokesman
Annink declined to say whether any of the statements in this
article could be true. He added that he could say only that his
commander, Gen. Rose, did not have at the moment any instructions
on the blue berets' withdrawal from Bosnia.
General Rose is touring today western Bosnia, where severe
clashes have been raging between the Army of Bosnia-Herzegovina and
forces loyal to Fikret Abdic along with Serbs for some time.
