ZAGREB, Aug 2 (Hina) - "Zagreb considers that Belgrade will soon
have to recognise Croatia within its internationally recognised
borders," said Deputy Foreign Minister Ivo Sanader in a Croatian TV
show on Monday night. Sanader noted that the five-power contact
group on Bosnia, as well as the "representatives of some very
important and influent internatioanl forums which are working on
the resolution of the crisis in former Yugoslavia," had insisted on
the recognition.
Asked whether Zagreb was ready to resume talks with rebel
Serbs, Sanader said: "We are ready to talk, but this time we won't
focus on the economic aspects only, but on reintegration as a
whole. It is quite clear now that the next step should be the
mutual recognition of Zagreb and Belgrade, followed by serious
talks about the reintegration of the UN Protected Areas, which will
encompass all the issues of interest both to the local Serb
population and the Croatian government."
