ZAGREB, July 14 (Hina) - Refugees are gathering outside the UN
headquarters in Zagreb on Thursday morning to protest againt the
inefficiency of the UNPROFOR mission in Croatia. The peaceful rally
is organized by the Refugees' Association of Zagreb County.
Head of the Refugees' Association Julije Skeledic told Hina
the refugees were not blocking the UNPROFOR personnel, but only
their vehicles. "They can move freely, they can leave and enter
their base as they please," he said and added that the protest
aimed to remind UNPROFOR that it should implement the UN Security
Council resolutions.
The special adviser of the Croatian president, Slobodan Lang,
visited the refugees and expressed full support for their demands,
emphasizing that the right to home was one of the fundamental human
rights.
Last year refugees built a brick wall round the UNPROFOR
headquarters bearing inscribed names of several thousand killed and
missing people.
This morning the refugees lit candles by the wall and prayed
for the return of their loved ones.
