VINKOVCI, July 7 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on
Thursday afternoon visited Vinkovci.
Adressing a gathering of refugees from Vukovar and Ilok at the
Vinkovci City Hall, President Tudjman said that not only Croats,
but all non-Serb peoples were victims of an attempt to create a
greater Serbia. He said no effort would be spared to ensure the
prompt return of the displaced to their homes and the return of
every inch of the Croatian territory under Croatia's rule.
Noting that Croatia had its own armed forces, as well as
friends all over the world, President Tudjman said Croatia could
count on its own forces to liberate the occupied territories and
ensure the return of the displaced. President Tudjman also stressed
that Croatia wanted to resolve these problems by peaceful means, in
order to devote all its energies to economic development. "If the
UN stayed impotent, then Croatia as a sovereign and recognised
states would have to take other steps because our top priority is
the return of the entire territory under Croatian rule. I assure
you that we will know how to achieve this," President Tudjman
concluded.
