GENEVA, July 6 (Hina) - Members of the five-nation contact group
met in Geneva Wednesday for talks with Bosnian Serb leader Radovan
Karadzic and other Bosnian Serb representatives to present them
with a proposal for the territorial and political organization of
Bosnia-Herzegovina and a map showing internal boundaries between
the Moslem-Croat federation and the Serbs in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Detials of the progress of the meeting are not known. British,
French, German, Russian and US diplomats involved in the contact
group refrained from making any statements, but Serb
representatives said that their leader Karadzic would hold a press
conference at a Geneva hotel following the talks with the contact
group. However, neither Karadzic nor any of the members of the
Bosnian Serb delegation appeared at the press conference. They
allegedly left Geneva immediately after the meeting at the Russian
embassy.
It is generally believed that such a move confirms previous
negative statements by Bosnian Serbs concerning the contact group's
proposal. Since Russian Foreign Minister Andrei Kozyrev is in
Belgrade today, where Karadzic has also allegedly gone, the outcome
of his talks with Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic and an
official response from the Bosnian Serbs to the proposal of the
contact group are expected.
