ZADAR, July 1 (Hina) - A session of the joint commission in Sector
South, that should have taken place today at the crossing point in
Zemunik near Zadar, has not been held because a Serb delegation
left Zemunik, the U.N. Protection Force (UNPROFOR) command for
Sector South said on Friday. The UNPROFOR statement does not
mention reasons why the Serb delegation, which already arrived in
Zemunik, gave up at the last moment from the joint commission
session.
According to the statement, the UNPROFOR commander for peace
keepers in Sector South, Czech General Rastislav Kotil, met a
Croatian military delegation led by General Ante Gotovina. They
held talks on further implementation of the 29 March cease-fire
agreement, on a decrease in the number of forces in the 10-
kilometre zone at the both sides from the former disengagement
line.
At the end of the statement the UNPROFOR command for Sector
South underlines that all those present at the joint session
sessions should hand over arms at UNPROFOR check-points.
