BELGRADE, June 14 (Hina) - The head of the Croatian office in
Belgrade, Zvonimir Markovic, handed to Yugoslav Deputy Prime
Minister Zeljko Simic a letter from Croatian Foreign Minister Mate
Granic which expounds Croatia's views on ways of normalizing
Croatian-Serbian relations, a Hina correspondent in Belgrade said.
In a 90-minute conversation, Simic and Markovic agreed that
the one-month truce in Bosnia-Herzegovina should be used for
preparations for the second and third phase of the process of
normalizing relations between Zagreb and Knin (rebel Serb
stronghold in UN Sector South), and for solving problems which
obstruct the normalization of relations between Croatia and
Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro).
The March 29 cease-fire agreement, signed by representatives
of the Croatian government and Serb rebels at the Russian embassy
in Zagreb, constitutes the first stage in normalizing relations.
The agreement has not been fully implemented to date. The second
stage should focus on economic and political issues.
