ZAGREB, Apr 16 (Hina) - Forty-eight Croatian and Moslem women
refugees, who went to visit their homes in Moslem-controlled
Bugojno on Thursday, today returned to Livno.
The refugees said the Moslem authorities had caused them no
trouble during the visit. Their freedom of movement was not
restricted, but they could not visit their appartments and
houses, where Moslem refugees had been accommodated.
The refugees reported that Catholic cemeteries in the
villages of Kandija, Bristovi and Sultanovci and most Catholic
churches in the area had been damaged or destroyed. Only a
Catholic church in downtown Bugojno remained whole, said the
refugees.
The women conveyed the call of the leader of the local
Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) branch, Ivo Mrsa, to return to
Bugojno. The number of Croats in the town dwindled to 2,000
during the war.
Three elderly women were allowed by Moslem authorities to
join their husbands and stay in Bugojno.
