ZOVIK, April 14 (Hina) - Serb forces resumed heavy artillery
attacks on Croatian Defefence Council (HVO) positions in the Brcko
area in north-eastern Bosnia on Thursday morning, a local HVO
command said in a report.
Over 400 tank, howitzer and mortar rounds struck the Croat
village of Boderiste.
Moslem-dominated Bosnian army formations stationed in the
western part of the front also came under attack.
The HVO said two Croat soldiers were killed and six were
wounded as Serb infantry attempted to break through the lines of
defence three times.
Serb attacks from the north-east reportedly subsided at about
11 a.m.
HVO officials said Serb forces had mounted a fresh offensive
in a bid to gain control of strategic points around Broderiste so
that they could expand the northern corridor, which would provide a
link between Serb-occupied territories in Bosnia and Croatia and
Serbia proper, and achieve a better negotiating position.
